Graphic Designer/Web Designer (Electronic publishing)
 Interim agent - 1-year Contract

Cedefop is looking to secure the support of an interim agent for 12 months in the Department for Communication. The main activities of the Department are media and public relations, Web contact and content management, research support, language support (editing, translation), and publication services (design, layout and dissemination) 
The interim agent will contribute to the work of conception and production of innovative electronic publication formats for Cedefop’s corporate publications, scientific research papers, briefing notes for policy makers, promotion flyers and brochures and covering the complete production process from the receipt of the manuscript to the production and dissemination of the final e-publication. 

Job description: 
 
  • Support to Cedefop’s publication team in developing and implementing a new e-publication policy for reaching out to the Agency’s various target groups;
  • Maintain and build up up-to-date knowledge on electronic publishing developments, especially in the institutional and scientific environment;
  • Research and implement new e-publishing formats and features (like embedded audiovisual content) for Cedefop electronic publication series;
  • Ensure high level of integration of Cedefop electronic publications with the Agency’s web portal (www.cedefop.europa.eu) and the EU bookshop (www.bookshop.europa.eu);
  • Collaborate with Cedefop’s internal research support service and the web content and contact management team to ensure the target group specific dissemination of e-books and other electronic publication formats;
  • Liaise with the media office on the integration of related audiovisual productions and on the promotion of newly released electronic publications through the most appropriate social media channels.



Candidate’s Profile:
 
  • Have a level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma covering the discipline of graphic design, web design, electronic publishing, online communications or information systems sciences. 
  • At least 2 years of recent professional project experience (2 years full-time equivalent within the past 5 years) in graphic design/web design related to electronic publishing; including the development and production of electronic books, flyers or brochures in pdf, html, e-book or other electronic publishing formats;
  • Recent professional experience in the promotion and dissemination of e-publishing formats; 
  • Excellent knowledge of Desktop publishing applications (Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress, etc.);
  • Excellent knowledge of web standards (HTML, XML, etc);
  • Ability to work independently under the pressure of a heavy workload and tight timescales;
  • Flexibility and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team; 
  • Problem-solving, planning and basic project management skills;
  • Very good oral and written communication skills in English (C1).
